Meme coins added nearly $3 billion on Thursday, lifting the sector to $29.3 billion, up 10 percent, as three blockchains competed for the flow.
DefiLlama data show Solana processed $3.01 billion in decentralized exchange trades over 24 hours, against $1.25 billion on BNB Chain and $510.8 million on Robinhood Chain, which launched in July as a network for tokenized stocks.
The headline number flatters all three. Meme tokens traded $3.6 billion on Thursday, and three coins accounted for 59 percent of it. Dogecoin led with $1.24 billion on its own network, rising 12.3 percent. Pepe followed with $514 million on Ethereum, and Official Trump took $421 million. The contested pool is far smaller than the headline suggests.
Fees tell a sharper story. Solana earned $925,809 in chain fees on Thursday, BNB Chain took $689,745 and Robinhood Chain collected $59,275. Solana moved 5.9 times Robinhood's volume but earned 15.6 times its fees. BNB Chain converted 0.055 percent of its volume into fees, Solana 0.031 percent and Robinhood 0.012 percent.
Volume is the easier number to grow. Blockspace is cheap, and a dollar can change hands many times in a day. Fees are harder. The gap between the two reorders the podium. Solana takes 63 percent of the three chains' volume but only 55 percent of their fees. BNB Chain extracts nearly twice as much value from each dollar traded.
Chains with no meme scene still earned more. Ethereum collected $1.22 million and Tron took $876,853. Robinhood Chain ranked tenth among all chains, behind Polygon.
One rival sits outside the three-way frame. Base matched BNB Chain on volume at $1.255 billion. Its economics resemble Robinhood's, however. Base earned $189,724, converting 0.015 percent of volume into fees.
Solana's dominance is not new. In October 2025, BNB Chain drew speculators away in a similar rotation before traders migrated back. Robinhood Chain's honeymoon followed the same arc, with roughly 79 percent of its DEX activity coming from memecoin trading in its first weeks before Solana regained the lead, Dune Analytics data show.
The durability of Solana's crown rests on a number few traders watch: not how much volume it attracts, but how much it converts. Only about 6 percent of Solana traders are currently profitable, with a median loss near $120, according to independent analysis. Over 46 percent of Solana's daily trading volume comes from meme coin pairs, Blockworks data show.
Whether Solana keeps the lead depends on turning its volume advantage into fees that rival BNB Chain's extraction rate. The next rotation is already being priced in by traders who moved to Robinhood Chain's Cash Cat, up 30.3 percent on $32.27 million of volume, and BNB's BinanceLife, up 4.7 percent against a sector up 10.1 percent.
