The Fund's investment objective is to provide current income exempt from federal income tax and California personal income tax. Under normal market conditions, at least 80% of the Fund’s net assets will be invested in municipal obligations, the interest on which is exempt from federal income tax, including the alternative minimum tax (AMT). The company may purchase derivative instruments, which derive their value from another instrument, security or index, including financial futures contracts and related options, interest rate swaps and forward rate contracts. The Fund may also invest in residual interests of trusts that hold municipal securities. Its investment portfolio includes various sectors, such as general obligations, insured-general obligations, hospital, transportation, housing, water and sewer, education and others. Eaton Vance Management is the investment advisor for the Fund.
