Whale Offloads $10M, Sending RAIN Down 17%
On March 27, the price of Rain Protocol's token (RAIN) fell by over 17% after a single large wallet executed a significant sell-off. Nansen AI data identified a "Token Millionaire" wallet offloading more than $10 million worth of RAIN, reducing its portfolio valuation from $80 million to $69 million. The sale drove the price below the key technical support level of $0.0082 as daily sell volume climbed to $46 million. This double-digit drop occurred while the broader crypto market declined by only 3%, underscoring the severity of the token-specific selling pressure.
The technical indicators confirm a bearish outlook following the sell-off. The price breakdown below $0.0082 caused the Bollinger Bands to expand, signaling a spike in volatility and downward momentum. Furthermore, the Balance of Power indicator registered a negative reading of -0.96, showing that sellers firmly control the market. This single event compounded a difficult month for the token, which had already declined by 21.6% in March.
Enlivex Buys $10M in RAIN Days Before Crash
In a stark contrast to the whale's selling, Nasdaq-listed Enlivex (ENLV) demonstrated strong institutional conviction by increasing its RAIN holdings just before the price drop. On March 24, Enlivex announced it had exercised an option to acquire an additional 3.03 billion RAIN tokens for $10 million. The purchase was funded by a new $21 million debt financing agreement that closed on March 23.
The company secured the tokens at a price of $0.0033 each, representing a 62% discount to RAIN's closing price on March 22. Enlivex's board also approved a $20 million share repurchase program, signaling management's belief that its stock is undervalued relative to its treasury assets, which are centered on the RAIN protocol. This strategic accumulation highlights a long-term corporate strategy that diverges sharply from the short-term selling pressure seen from large individual holders.
We are continuing to execute our prediction markets treasury strategy, and we are pleased that Lind provided us with substantial capital, allowing us to... acquire approximately three billion additional RAIN tokens, at a purchase price of $0.0033 per token.
— Shai Novik, Executive Chairman of Enlivex.
Price Hangs at $0.0082 as Whales and Institutions Clash
The opposing actions have left RAIN's price at a critical inflection point. With a market capitalization of approximately $3.89 billion, sustained trading below the $0.0082 support level could trigger further selling and push its valuation toward $3.5 billion. The market is witnessing a direct conflict between a large, selling whale and a committed, buying institution.
The token's next major move depends on which force prevails. If sellers maintain control and keep the price below $0.0082, further downside is likely. However, if institutional accumulation from Enlivex and other buyers can absorb the selling pressure and push the price back above this level, it would suggest a potential reversal. A decisive move above $0.0092 would invalidate the bearish breakdown and shift the market structure back toward bullish.
