Curve Finance expanded its lending protocol to Optimism, securing a 250,000 OP grant to support multi-asset lending markets.

Curve Finance launched Llamalend v2 on Optimism on June 10, backed by a 250,000 OP token grant, expanding its lending protocol beyond crvUSD-only markets to support multiple collateral and borrow assets.
The upgrade introduces LlamaRisk as a market curator, according to the project's announcement. The Optimism Collective's 250,000 OP grant showed strong ecosystem support for Curve's expansion onto the L2 network.
Llamalend v2 enables more flexible lending markets and LP-token collateral, with the upgrade expected to precede an Ethereum mainnet rollout. The expansion beyond crvUSD-only markets broadens Curve's addressable lending base on Optimism, where total value locked across DeFi protocols exceeds $800 million, according to DefiLlama.
CRV, Curve's governance token on Ethereum, rallied as much as 40 percent in the days after the announcement before meeting resistance near $0.2660, where sellers stepped in and pushed the token down 3.93 percent, CoinGecko data shows. The pullback represented a routine post-rally retrace within a still-bearish higher timeframe trend, with open interest declining and daily trading volume dropping 64 percent after the rejection, according to Coinglass.
CRV traded at $0.2550 as of 14:00 UTC, down 3.93 percent over the prior 38 hours. The token's historical daily volatility of around 4.4 percent suggests the move falls within normal noise bands. Support sits at $0.2400, with resistance at the $0.2660 level, where the 78.6 percent Fibonacci retracement previously capped upside.
The 250,000 OP grant from Optimism could drive additional liquidity to Curve's lending markets on the L2, potentially boosting total value locked on the platform. Curve's expansion onto Optimism also puts it in more direct competition with other DeFi lending protocols on the network, including Aave and Compound on Ethereum.
