Fresh on-chain demand is backing Polkadot's latest advance, yet the crowded leverage that built the move leaves DOT exposed to a sharp unwind.

DOT rose 14% to about $1.09 as Polkadot network transaction volume spiked, with on-chain metrics showing fresh capital behind the move.
The surge extends gains that began after Polkadot capped supply at 2.1 billion DOT and cut annual inflation to about 3 percent, reforms that drew renewed buying as capital rotated out of Bitcoin into altcoins, Traders Union analysts said.
Daily network usage climbed 150 percent in the prior session, lifting DOT toward the $1.134 resistance before it consolidated. The token now trades above its 20-day and 50-day moving averages at $0.89 and $0.834 but sits below the 200-day average at $1.107, keeping longer-term pressure intact.
The leverage that powered the rally could become its fastest exit. With RSI at 77.454 and Stochastic RSI at 100, DOT is deeply overbought; a break below the $0.916 support, marked by the Ichimoku Kijun, would likely unwind crowded longs and accelerate the decline.
The transaction spike marks a shift from earlier in the week, when DOT's gains tracked broad altcoin rotation rather than network usage. Transaction counts and active addresses both climbed as the token rose, a sign that real demand, not just speculative flows, is absorbing supply.
Open interest across DOT derivatives climbed alongside price, and funding rates turned positive as longs crowded in. That positioning magnified the move higher, and it would magnify any reversal — a dynamic that has punished altcoins before when Bitcoin dominance ticks up and risk appetite fades.
Anton Kharitonov, an expert at Traders Union, cautioned that the rally leans on short-term momentum rather than deep underlying strength. "Current levels offer little margin for error — I would exercise caution and prepare for increased downside risk if support at $0.916 fails," he said.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, also at Traders Union, took the opposite view, arguing the supply cap, lower inflation, and revamped governance position DOT for sustained demand as long as fundamentals hold. "Polkadot's reforms position it for sustained demand — I expect upward momentum to continue as long as fundamentals remain supportive," he said.
The split marks the fork in the road. If DOT holds above $0.916 and breaks the $1.058 ceiling, the transaction-backed rally has room to extend toward the $1.134 resistance. If support fails, the leverage that built the move becomes the mechanism for a sharp unwind.
