Israeli defense firm Elbit Systems Ltd. (NASDAQ: ESLT) announced Tuesday it secured a contract worth approximately $1.4 billion to provide extensive military modernization programs for an unnamed European customer.
"This contract reflects the breadth and attractiveness of Elbit Systems' defense portfolio," Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis, President and CEO of Elbit Systems, said in a statement.
The comprehensive five-year program will deliver a range of advanced systems, including uncrewed autonomous vehicles, networked land electronic warfare capabilities, and precision-guided munitions for both artillery and air-to-ground applications. It also includes electro-optical designation and reconnaissance systems networked by software-defined radios.
The deal significantly bolsters Elbit's order backlog, which stood at $28.1 billion at the end of 2025. The award highlights a continuing trend of increased defense spending by European nations seeking to modernize their military forces.
The modernization is intended to improve the client nation's operational effectiveness, maneuverability, and survivability on the battlefield. Elbit's CEO noted the company's experience with numerous armed forces worldwide positions it as a "trusted partner for long-term military modernization programs."
This contract win provides investors with greater visibility into future revenue streams outside of the company's domestic market. Observers will watch Elbit's upcoming quarterly reports for details on how the contract impacts margin and the pace of revenue recognition.
