The Chief Executive of FanDuel, Amy Howe, has departed the company, a move that sent shares of parent company Flutter Entertainment (NYSE:FLUT) down 2% in Wednesday afternoon trading.
Howe's departure comes after five years with the company and a tenure as CEO since 2021, according to people familiar with the matter who spoke to CNBC. During her time as CEO, Howe led the nation's largest sportsbook through a significant period of expansion as sports betting and online gambling became legalized across numerous states.
FanDuel President Christian Genetski will step in to lead the company. The change in leadership comes as prediction-market companies have posed increasing competition to the sports-betting giant.
For parent company Flutter Entertainment, the departure adds to a difficult year, with shares having declined 53% year-to-date. The company is scheduled to release its first-quarter 2026 financial update after the market closes.
The leadership change introduces a new layer of uncertainty for the sports-betting company. Investors will be closely watching for Christian Genetski's strategic direction, with Flutter's upcoming earnings update on May 6, 2026, serving as the next major catalyst.
