LIT cleared $3.00 after weeks of compression, and two announcements now frame the next leg toward $4.
LIT rose 20% to $3.78 in 24 hours, extending a weekly gain to 52% after an Upbit listing and a CFTC advisory appointment.
Open interest climbed 25.37% to $332.4 million, Coinglass data shows, as traders added leveraged exposure during the breakout.
Liquidations reached $2.42 million in the past day, with shorts accounting for $1.96 million and longs $458,440, Coinglass data shows. Most forced closures occurred within 12 hours, peaking at $2.18 million. The RSI hit 77.81, placing the token in overbought territory, while the MACD histogram recorded its widest spread of the period.
LIT now faces supply at $3.77, where the latest impulse stalled. Clearing that level would open price discovery toward $4.00, with $3.20-$3.30 anchoring the breakout as support.
Lighter spent most of August compressing between $2.00 and $2.45, absorbing supply beneath the ceiling before clearing $2.80, peaking at $2.99, and briefly falling back to $2.60. Bulls regained control, broke $3.00, and pushed the token into a steep expansion to $3.78.
Two announcements provided the fresh demand. Upbit scheduled the LIT/KRW listing with trading beginning at 13:00 local time on Aug. 24, widening retail access in South Korea. Separately, Novakovski was appointed to the CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee during its inaugural meeting, linking Lighter more directly to U.S. discussions on decentralized derivatives and compliance frameworks. The regulatory visibility strengthened Lighter's institutional relevance, while the exchange listing widened potential liquidity.
The advance reshaped LIT's derivatives market. Open interest rose 25.37% to $332.4 million, and the liquidation map shows fresh leverage gathering near $3.60 and above $3.80, with heavier downside clusters toward $3.40. With open interest up more than a quarter, forced closures around either zone can intensify LIT's next move.
Volume rose during both breakout legs, though the latest candles attracted less participation than the initial push. Momentum is expanding faster than fresh volume, a sign the rally is extended. LIT's fully diluted valuation sits near $3 billion, with a market cap in the mid-hundreds of millions, according to CoinMarketCap.
The dual developments — a regulatory seat and a major exchange listing — give LIT a rare combination of institutional and retail attention. But the overbought RSI and crowded leverage zones mean a pullback toward $3.40 could trigger a cascade of long liquidations, testing whether the breakout holds.
