MercadoLibre reported Q2 revenue of $10.2 billion, beating the $9.78 billion consensus by about 4.3 percent.
The Latin American e-commerce and fintech company's results topped the average estimate from analysts covering the stock, who had reconfirmed their forecasts over the past 30 days, according to data compiled by StockStory.
The beat follows a first quarter in which revenue rose 49 percent year on year to $8.85 billion, with daily active users up 25.4 percent to 84 million. The market had expected Q2 revenue to grow 43.3 percent year on year, accelerating from the 33.8 percent increase recorded in the same quarter a year earlier. MercadoLibre has a history of exceeding Wall Street's expectations, and the latest print extends that run.
The results point to sustained consumer demand across Latin America as MercadoLibre expands its marketplace and payments businesses. Shares, up 5.4 percent over the past month, trade at $1,904, below the $2,215 average analyst price target, implying roughly 16 percent upside.
Among consumer internet peers that have already reported, EverQuote delivered revenue growth of 24.6 percent, beating estimates by 2.6 percent, while Teladoc posted a 4 percent decline and missed by 1.3 percent, sending its shares down 28.1 percent. The consumer internet segment has seen share prices fall 1.2 percent on average over the past month, a backdrop that makes MercadoLibre's outperformance stand out.
MercadoLibre operates the region's largest online marketplace, competing with Amazon's local operations across Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina. Its fintech arm, Mercado Pago, processes payments and offers credit, giving the company a dual engine that has driven user engagement and transaction growth. The company's 84 million daily active users in the first quarter marked a 25.4 percent jump from a year earlier, reflecting the breadth of its regional footprint.
The company did not disclose net income or earnings per share in the initial release. Analysts had projected EPS of $8.69 for the quarter, according to StockAnalysis data.
The revenue beat strengthens the case for MercadoLibre's growth as it competes with Amazon across Latin America. Investors will watch the earnings call for updated guidance on margins and payments volume, a key driver of the company's fintech arm, Mercado Pago. The company's next earnings report will test whether it can sustain the double-digit growth that has lifted its shares well above the broader consumer internet sector.
