Sound Group Inc. (NASDAQ: SOGP) will pay a special cash dividend of $1.20 per American Depositary Share after reporting a 53 percent revenue increase and a return to profitability for fiscal year 2025.
"To recognize our shareholders’ continued support and reaffirm our commitment to returning value, the Board of Directors has declared a special cash dividend of approximately US$5 million," Ms. Chengfang Lu, Acting CFO of SOGP, said.
The dividend amounts to $0.006 per ordinary share and is payable around May 12 to shareholders of record as of April 22. The announcement comes as the AI-powered audio company posted full-year net revenues of $443.7 million, up from RMB2.03 billion in 2024. Net income reached $31.6 million, a sharp reversal from the $81.0 million loss reported in the previous year.
The dividend signals management's confidence in its financial standing, using its $94.4 million cash reserve to reward investors. The payment follows a year of expanding its AI-driven audio services, which the company credits for its significant top-line growth and improved operational efficiency.
Strong Finish to 2025
The company's performance was particularly strong in the second half of 2025, with net revenues increasing 58 percent year-over-year to $249.5 million. This drove a net income of $21.9 million for the six-month period, compared to a net loss of $44.5 million in the second half of 2024.
"2025 was a remarkable year for Sound Group, highlighted by a 53% year-over-year increase in net revenues and a return to profitability," Jinnan (Marco) Lai, Founder and CEO, said in the earnings release. He attributed the results to the expansion of the company's audio-centric ecosystem and growing revenue from its AI initiatives.
The move to return cash to shareholders comes as other companies in the audio and media streaming space, such as Stingray Group Inc. (TSX: RAY), also maintain regular dividend payouts to investors.
The dividend underscores a significant financial turnaround for the company, driven by its AI initiatives. Investors will watch for continued momentum in its audio-centric ecosystem and the performance of its recently launched SoundSphereAI platform.
