Geolocation Breakthrough Underpins 15x Capacity Expansion
Spire Global announced on March 24, 2026, that it had successfully demonstrated single-satellite radio frequency (RF) geolocation from orbit. This technical milestone, which includes the detection of S-band and X-band signals, marks a significant advance over traditional methods that require multiple satellites to pinpoint a signal's origin. The capability strengthens Spire's position in the defense and space reconnaissance markets, which the company has identified as its primary near-term growth engine.
The demonstration directly validates Spire's strategic focus on its RF geolocation (RFGL) services. The company expects to increase its RFGL capacity by approximately 15 times over the next 12 months. This expansion is designed to transition government customers from smaller pilot programs to large-scale operational deployments, supported by a fully deployed constellation of about 100 payloads.
Spire Guides for Over 50% Growth After Strategic Pivot
This technological progress follows a major strategic repositioning for Spire, which divested its maritime business in 2025 to concentrate on space-based intelligence. The focus is already yielding financial results, with the company reporting 44% year-over-year revenue growth in Q4 2025 for its core operations. The company's balance sheet was also strengthened, ending 2025 debt-free with $81.8 million in cash and marketable securities.
Building on this momentum, Spire issued strong guidance for 2026, projecting full-year revenue between $75 million and $85 million. This forecast represents over 50% year-over-year growth for the core business, excluding the divested maritime unit. Management is also steering the company toward profitability, setting a target to reach adjusted EBITDA breakeven between the fourth quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027.
Defense Contracts and International Pipeline Fuel Outlook
The company's confident outlook is backed by a robust contract pipeline. Spire has already secured awards from U.S. agencies for funded RFGL missions across South America, the Middle East, and the Asia Pacific region. Furthermore, Spire is actively engaged with 17 countries to provide services ranging from RFGL data to custom satellite missions and full sovereign constellation programs.
Management noted these international sovereign programs represent opportunities ranging from high eight-figure to low nine-figure contracts over multiple years. This pipeline, combined with existing contracts like an $11.2 million deal with NOAA for radio occultation data, provides high visibility into its revenue targets, with management stating that approximately 75% of its 2026 guidance is already covered by contracts in place.
