SY Holdings Group Ltd. (06069.HK) Chairman Tung Chi Fung increased his stake in the company to 53.44 percent after acquiring 5.293 million shares for about HK$50.15 million, signaling leadership’s confidence in the firm.
The company announced the series of open-market purchases were made through Tung’s controlled entity, Wisdom Cosmos Limited, between March 18 and April 24. The acquisitions underscore the chairman’s “confidence in the long-term development and intrinsic value of the Company,” SY Holdings said in a statement.
The purchases were made at an average price of approximately HK$9.47 per share. Following the transactions, Wisdom Cosmos Limited's direct shareholding in the supply chain financing company rose to about 53.44 percent of the issued shares, excluding treasury stock. The company confirmed it still meets Hong Kong’s public float requirements.
This move shows a significant vote of confidence from the chairman, who has cumulatively acquired more than 14.4 million shares for over HK$120 million and has never sold shares. Investors will watch to see if this insider buying translates to positive momentum for the stock, which was down 2.32 percent on the day of the announcement.
