Syndicate, a startup focused on blockchain infrastructure, has integrated Arbitrum's Stylus execution environment into its SyndDB open-source database tool, reducing verification times for trusted hardware by over 99%. The announcement was made in a technical blog post published by Arbitrum on May 14, 2026.
"The project replaced a zkVM proof pipeline with a Rust smart contract compiled to WASM via Stylus," the Arbitrum post detailed. This allows a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) attestation from services like Google Cloud Confidential Space to be verified directly on-chain in a single, rapid transaction.
The integration delivers a significant performance leap, cutting TEE attestation times from a range of 30 to 180 seconds down to less than one second. Previously, the system relied on a complex zero-knowledge virtual machine (zkVM) pipeline which incurred per-proof costs between $0.018 and $0.13 and required dedicated GPU infrastructure. The new architecture removes the prover component entirely, streamlining the system from four major components to three.
This technical improvement is critical for applications that require high-frequency off-chain workflows, such as compliance checks or collateral updates, to securely checkpoint with an on-chain system. By making the trust verification step near-instantaneous and cheaper, the integration could attract more data-intensive decentralized applications to the Arbitrum ecosystem, potentially increasing network activity and enhancing its competitive position against other Layer 2 networks.
