Cybersecurity firm Tenable is integrating large language models from Anthropic, a leader in generative AI, to automate the process of identifying and fixing security vulnerabilities across corporate networks. The move, announced at Tenable's EXPOSURE 2026 conference, aims to shift cybersecurity from a reactive to a preemptive discipline.
"The volume of exposures is increasing, the time between discovery and exploit is shrinking, and security teams need a fundamentally different approach," said Mark Thurmond, co-CEO of Tenable. "With Claude-fueled innovations we are accelerating R&D and our exposure management roadmap."
The partnership will embed Anthropic's Claude AI into the Tenable Hexa AI engine, the core of the Tenable One Exposure Management Platform. Fueled by a data fabric that combines telemetry from a company's entire attack surface, the AI will help prioritize threats, orchestrate remediation, and analyze complex exposures without manual intervention.
For Tenable (NASDAQ: TENB), this partnership is a critical move to maintain its edge in the cybersecurity market, where AI-powered automation is becoming a key differentiator. The announcement comes as rivals also push deeper into AI. Axonius, for instance, recently appointed a new CEO to drive its strategy around using AI agents to provide full visibility and automated remediation for assets, a move that shows a sector-wide race to use AI to actively resolve risk.
Anthropic, recently named No. 1 on the 2026 CNBC Disruptor 50 list, provides the high-level reasoning capabilities that security platforms need to analyze complex attack paths. "We’re excited to work with Tenable to apply Claude’s capabilities to help customers better understand risk, prioritize action, and respond faster,” said Jason Clinton, Anthropic's Deputy CISO.
Tenable, which serves over 40,000 customers, is betting that embedding agentic AI will create a more essential platform and expand its addressable market. While financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed, the collaboration is designed to strengthen Tenable's preemptive security programs and reduce business risk for its global customer base.
