XRP fell to $1.05, down roughly 70 percent in 2026, as Grayscale's XRP Trust sold $180.78 million of tokens to meet investor redemptions.
The trust offloaded 103.41 million XRP in the first half, the Form 10-Q filed with the SEC shows, cutting holdings to 55.04 million tokens from 122.23 million at end-2025. Net assets dropped to $57.41 million from $223.36 million, with outstanding shares declining to 2.84 million from 6.30 million.
The selling was largely mechanical, driven by authorized participants handling creations and redemptions rather than discretionary manager decisions. Grayscale recorded a $34.16 million realized loss on redemption sales and a $17.47 million unrealized loss on its remaining XRP investment, plus a $39,000 realized loss to cover sponsor fees. The trust created 36.27 million XRP worth $66.58 million during the period, but outflows outweighed inflows.
XRP is underperforming a slightly positive broader market, where Bitcoin traded at $64,929.85 and Ether at $1,917.06. A firmer U.S. dollar and modestly higher Treasury yields on Aug. 5 sapped demand for risk-sensitive assets, a macro headwind amplified for XRP by lingering Ripple-SEC regulatory uncertainty that continues to cap institutional appetite.
Technical battleground
The immediate battleground is the $1.05-$1.06 support band, which aligns with the recent swing low. If that zone holds, a period of low-volatility consolidation is likely, targeting the 50 percent Fibonacci retracement near $1.10. A decisive break below $1.05 opens a path toward the psychological $1.00 level, while a volume-backed move above $1.08 is the key trigger for a reversal.
Grayscale CEO Peter Mintzberg sold part of his GXRP stake, separate disclosures earlier this year showed, though that activity does not directly map to fund flows.
The $180.78 million in forced sales adds sell-side pressure to an asset already facing macro and regulatory drag. When demand fades, redemptions force actual spot selling into the market, and in a sentiment-driven asset that mechanical pressure can quickly amplify the downside. The path of least resistance remains down until XRP reclaims $1.08 on volume.
