BlackRock Chief Executive Larry Fink predicted Bitcoin could reach $700,000, saying institutional adoption of the asset is reshaping global financial strategies and challenging traditional assets.
"Institutional adoption of Bitcoin could reshape global financial strategies, challenging traditional assets and influencing monetary policies," Fink said Aug. 7.
The call arrives as U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted $790.6 million in net inflows over the seven trading days through Aug. 6, according to the Bitcoin For Corporations ETF Dashboard. BlackRock's IBIT accounted for $757.5 million of that total, extending a streak of four consecutive inflow days.
A $700,000 target implies roughly 10x upside from Bitcoin's $64,908.80 price as of Aug. 7, and would value the network above the market capitalization of gold. The prediction from the world's largest asset manager could reinforce the case for institutional allocation through regulated products.
The seven-day flow data shows one notable setback. On July 31, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $212.7 million in net outflows, the only negative session during the period. Buyers returned almost immediately, with four consecutive sessions of gains: Aug. 3 (+$170.1 million), Aug. 4 (+$207.8 million), Aug. 5 (+$241.6 million), and Aug. 6 (+$99.4 million).
Fidelity's FBTC added $11.2 million on the latest session, while Bitwise's BITB added $1.7 million. A handful of funds experienced modest outflows, but none came close to offsetting IBIT's continued strength.
Bitcoin traded at $64,908.80 as of Aug. 7, down roughly 49 percent from its all-time high of $126,173.18 reached Oct. 6, 2025. The current level sits well below the $100,000 milestone Bitcoin first crossed on Dec. 5, 2024.
Fink's $700,000 target is among the most aggressive from a mainstream financial executive. Ripple Chief Executive Brad Garlinghouse has predicted $180,000 in 2026, while Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan reiterated a $200,000 target. Jack Dorsey and Cathie Wood project Bitcoin exceeding $1 million and $1.5 million by 2030, respectively.
The prediction arrives during a week when Bitcoin security dominated industry headlines after a firmware exploit affecting certain Coldcard hardware wallets. ETF flow data suggests institutional demand remained intact despite the security concerns, with capital continuing to flow into regulated products. If Fink's thesis holds, the gap between Bitcoin's current price and his target implies sustained accumulation by institutions through vehicles such as IBIT.
