The Internet Computer's tokenomics dashboard records 2.85 million ICP burned historically against 63.96 million ICP minted through distributed voting maturity, a gap that Mission 70 governance proposals aim to narrow.
Trading volume reached approximately 1.07 million ICP during the session. The Tenkan-sen crossed above the Kijun-sen near $2.17-$2.18, while On-Balance Volume climbed to -77.76 million, confirming that price gains coincided with improving volume pressure.
ICP now needs to hold the $2.17-$2.20 region to preserve the breakout structure, with next resistance at $2.40 and a potential path toward $2.60. The outcome depends on whether Caffeine AI generates meaningful network usage and whether Mission 70 proposals receive governance approval.
Caffeine allows users to build and deploy applications on the Internet Computer using conversational prompts. Customer payments purchase ICP, which is then converted into cycles required to power applications. Those cycles are consumed as applications use network resources, effectively removing the corresponding ICP from supply.
That creates a direct economic link between Caffeine usage, network activity, and ICP demand. The question is whether that activity can become large enough to affect tokenomics materially. The Internet Computer competes with other layer-1 smart contract platforms for developer mindshare, and Caffeine's low-code approach could lower the barrier to entry for non-technical builders.
The proposed Mission 70 reforms include changes to staking and node-provider rewards alongside measures intended to increase demand for ICP. Its governance proposals could reduce issuance while increasing network-driven burns.
However, the outcome depends on which proposals receive governance approval, how they are implemented, and whether products such as Caffeine generate meaningful network usage. The dashboard also records roughly 112.06 million ICP in undisbursed voting maturity — not equivalent to immediately circulating supply, but relevant when assessing potential future issuance.
For now, the cumulative data shows that historical minting has substantially exceeded token burns. Caffeine and Mission 70 provide potential mechanisms for narrowing that gap, but neither has yet established that ICP is moving toward sustained net deflation.
The short-term technical picture has improved, but the fundamental supply-demand equation remains unresolved. If Mission 70 passes and Caffeine adoption scales, ICP could see sustained pressure on the supply side. If governance stalls or adoption remains thin, the current rally may prove to be a technical bounce rather than the start of a structural recovery.
