Key Takeaways:
- Circle becomes Chelsea FC's front-of-shirt sponsor for the 2026-27 season
- USDC logo to appear on men's, women's, and academy kits
- Deal value undisclosed; Chelsea had sought more than £50m per season
Key Takeaways:

Circle Internet Group signed a front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with Chelsea FC, placing its USDC stablecoin logo on the club's men's, women's, and academy kits starting the 2026-27 season.
"This partnership with Circle positions Chelsea at the forefront of football's digital evolution," Jason Gannon, president of Chelsea FC, said. "We are two organisations fixated by the future and are relentlessly innovating to be in the best position possible for the long-term."
The agreement, announced Aug. 28, makes Circle a Principal Partner and the official front-of-shirt partner. Financial terms were not disclosed, but Chelsea had valued the front-of-shirt position at more than £50 million per season, according to reports. The kit debuts Aug. 30 when Chelsea host Brighton at Stamford Bridge, with the USDC logo rendered in the club's home colors of yellow.
The deal ends Chelsea's search for a long-term shirt sponsor since the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital ownership took over in May 2022. The club previously relied on temporary agreements with Infinite Athlete and IFS after failing to secure multi-year deals at its asking price. Chelsea's talks with Paramount Plus in 2023 were blocked by the Premier League over concerns it could create conflicts with the league's other broadcast partners.
Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire said the partnership connects USDC with "a global sports community built on that exact same borderless vision." Kash Razzaghi, Circle's chief commercial officer, said the deal shows "what the future of global finance looks like: open, borderless, and built for everyone."
The sponsorship marks one of the largest crypto-brand integrations in elite global sports, giving USDC exposure to Chelsea's global fanbase. It strengthens USDC's competitive positioning against rival stablecoins such as Tether's USDT, which has maintained a larger market share. The deal is expected to run for an initial year with an option to extend, according to the Daily Mail.
Chelsea, managed by Xabi Alonso, began the new campaign with back-to-back wins after a disappointing 10th-place finish last season that saw the club miss out on European football entirely. The club's on-pitch inconsistencies since the 2022 ownership change contributed to its difficulty in securing a long-term sponsor at its valuation.
Aki Mandhar, CEO of Chelsea FC Women, said the partnership brings USDC to the women's team's fanbase as the club plays its inaugural season at Stamford Bridge. Todd Kline, president of commercial at Chelsea FC, said the deal represents "a partner who's building something" and that the two organizations share "a shared ambition to lead on a global stage."
Circle, listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker CRCL, built USDC on the belief that money should work smoothly for everyone everywhere, the way the internet does, Allaire said. The stablecoin is designed to maintain a 1:1 peg to the US dollar, backed by cash and short-duration US Treasuries. USDC operates across Ethereum, Solana, and other major blockchain networks.
Crypto companies have increasingly turned to sports sponsorships to build brand recognition. Crypto.com's naming rights deal for the Los Angeles arena and FTX's naming rights agreement with the Miami Heat before its collapse are among the most prominent examples. Circle's Chelsea deal differs in that it centers on a stablecoin rather than a trading platform, reflecting the sector's shift toward payments-focused branding.
