SHIB futures volume on OKX surpassed $52 million on Aug. 25, reflecting heightened derivatives activity after the token's sharp price expansion from $0.0000045.
Coinglass data shows OKX accounted for $52.27 million of SHIB futures volume, the largest single contributor, with LBank at $22.42 million, MEXC at $12.66 million, and Bitget at $10.97 million.
SHIB on Ethereum traded at $0.00000547 as of 12:15 UTC, having briefly surpassed $0.0000060 before giving back some gains. The token remains above short-term moving averages at $0.00000462–$0.00000495, while the long-term average near $0.00000573 continues to act as overhead resistance. The RSI cooled to about 63 after briefly entering overbought territory, easing immediate overheating without breaking the bullish momentum structure.
The next test sits between $0.0000057 and $0.0000060. A daily close above that range could expose $0.0000062–$0.0000065 and turn the recent spike into a more convincing structural breakout. Failure to reclaim that zone risks another retracement toward $0.0000050 and the moving-average cluster below.
The concentration on OKX is notable because it indicates a single trading venue accounts for a sizable portion of current SHIB derivatives activity. Futures volume alone cannot determine whether traders are predominantly long or short, since every derivatives transaction involves counterparties. The elevated volume primarily reflects increased speculation and participation.
Spot markets showed a similar pattern of elevated activity. Sell volume reached roughly 3.8 trillion tokens against buy volume of about 3.4 trillion tokens, producing a 0.4 trillion token imbalance that points to sellers dominating order books during the recent pullback. Perpetual contracts saw more than 1.32 trillion tokens in selling activity versus buy volume near 1.27 trillion tokens, leaving a negative perps delta of approximately 50 billion tokens. Futures netflow turned negative at roughly $833,000, indicating traders closing positions rather than opening new ones.
SHIB's recent move from $0.0000045 to briefly above $0.0000060 coincided with one of the largest volume spikes on the daily chart in recent months. The token has since cooled to $0.00000547, with the RSI settling at about 63. The broader meme coin sector, including peers like Dogecoin, has also seen elevated derivatives activity as retail interest in speculative tokens persists.
The $52 million OKX futures figure shows traders have reentered SHIB. Whether that activity translates into another price advance depends on buyers clearing the long-term resistance directly overhead. A decisive break above $0.0000060 would mark the first sustained close above that level since the recent rally began, potentially attracting additional momentum-driven inflows.
