Battlefield 6's Season 4 brings back two-seater fighter jets for the first time since 2005 and adds a Top Gun crossover with original voice actors from the film franchise.

Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios are bringing two-seater fighter jets back to the franchise for the first time in 21 years, pairing the feature with a Top Gun crossover that includes original voice actors from the film series.
"Battlefield is very intense, whether you're in the sky or on the ground or fighting in the sea. In that way, it's a perfect pairing with Top Gun," Lewis Pullman, who reprises his role as Lt. Robert "Bob" Floyd in the game, said in a statement.
Season 4: Pacific Front launches July 21 with the Tsuru Reef map — the largest in Battlefield 6 — and introduces naval warfare through two new water vehicles: the RCB-90 Patrol Boat and the 7.7m NSW RHIB light transport. The update adds four new weapons including the Interdictor sniper rifle, alongside the F/A-18 Super Hornet and F-14 Tomcat, the first two-seat fixed-wing jets in the series since Battlefield 2 in 2005.
The Top Gun crossover arrives in Phase 2 on Aug. 18 alongside the return of Wake Island, a fan-favorite map. Three characters voiced by their original actors — Miles Teller as Lt. Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, Pullman as Bob, and Charles Parnell as Adm. Solomon "Warlock" Bates — will appear alongside themed cosmetics. A new Carrier Strike mode blends naval, air, and ground combat around aircraft carrier objectives, while Fighter Sweep offers a jets-only mode through the Gauntlet system. Phase 3, dubbed Tidal Strike, follows on Sept. 15 with a collection event and additional rewards.
The Competitive Landscape
The update arrives as Battlefield 6 competes directly with Activision's Call of Duty franchise, which released Modern Warfare 4 earlier this year. Two-seater jets represent a meaningful differentiator — no major military shooter currently offers coordinated two-person aircraft gameplay, giving Battlefield Studios a unique selling point for its vehicle sandbox. The Top Gun partnership with Paramount Games Studio also mirrors the cross-media strategy that has driven engagement for Epic Games' Fortnite, which has hosted collaborations with Marvel, Star Wars, and DC.
EA has not disclosed Battlefield 6's player count or in-game revenue figures. The game launched in October 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Season 4's full patch notes include over 100 fixes and adjustments spanning vehicle physics, weapon balancing, AI behavior for naval combat, and Portal mode updates.
Investor Implications
For EA, the Top Gun crossover represents a high-visibility content play during the summer gaming window, a period typically slower for major releases. Successful seasonal updates have historically driven engagement metrics and in-game purchases for live-service titles. EA shares trade at roughly 18 times forward earnings, and the company's fiscal 2027 guidance will be closely watched for any update on Battlefield 6's contribution to the Entertainment segment. The partnership with Paramount also signals EA's willingness to invest in licensed IP to differentiate its flagship shooter from Call of Duty, which has its own Hollywood tie-ins through the Modern Warfare series.
